Morphée Sleep Aid Review

Morphée sleep aid
Sleep is an important part of maintaining our overall well-being. We should not only be focusing on the number of hours we sleep but also the level of quality of sleep.

A lack of quality sleep can leave us feeling lethargic, irritable and prevent our body to optimally recover from daily stresses and physical activity. So, we have reviewed the Morphée sleep aid to see how it can help improve your quality of sleep.

Why Do You Need a Sleep Aid?

For many of us, getting a good night sleep is not as simple as shutting our eyes and waking up with a spring in our step the next morning. Around 16 million people in the UK suffer with insomnia, according to a wellbeing report published by Aviva. Furthermore, the NHS also believe that 1 in 3 people suffer with insomnia in the UK. So, we can see sleep related issues are very common in the UK.

According to the NHS, poor sleep is triggered by lifestyle factors such as stress, anxiety, depression and overactive minds.

This is how sleeping aids such as the Morphée can help to relax, particularly the mind, and help improve your quality of sleep. But is the Morphée really capable of improving your sleep? Well, let’s evaluate the product.

What is the Morphée Sleeping Aid?

The Morphée sleep aid is a non digital device to help you sleep. It has a face with three golden dials that allow you to select up to 210 music and meditation programmes that help you to relax and exercise mindfulness.

Design and Features

I’ll be perfectly honest, it doesn’t look like a fitness or health device at first glance. It is more akin to a product you would see in a classic watch and clock store with its wood top and shiny golden dials. But there’s a charm to it’s appearance and doesn’t look out of place on the bed side cabinet.

  • Beech wood outer shell
  • Battery lasts for around 7-10 days if used for one 20 minute session a day
  • Comes with USB charging cable and wall adapter, thank you card and the blue book of sleep

How Does It Aid Sleep?

Based on the principles of sophrology, it enables you to fall in to a deep relaxation and improve your quality of sleep. You can select from the voices of either ‘Piers’ or ‘Gina’ to guide you through the sessions, which can be listened through the speaker or headphones. Each session is 20 minutes long, whether that’s long enough for some people to fall asleep will be your individual preference.

It is strictly not used in conjunction with any apps or mobile devices. The Morphée is encouraging the behaviour to reduce exposure to blue light, especially before sleeping.

Essentially, by using the device it is practising the habit of relaxation, mindfulness, reduction in technology and blue light exposure. In other words, any life stressors or modern day pre bedtime bad habits are reduced. So, you can improve your ability to sleep without feeling restful or sleeping lightly.

Is the Morphée Right For You?

We can’t profess that the Morphée is the answer to all sleep deprivation and sleep quality problems. We view the Morphée as an aid that encourages good pre bedtime behaviours.

At first, you can feel a little silly listening to a strangers voice with hypnotic undertones. But if you are the type of person that has an overactive mind, dealing with a stressful day and struggle to relax and ‘switch-off’ from your day then the Morphée is worth a try.

Also, if you are the type of person that brings their mobile or tablet to bed and scroll through social media until your eyes are tired, then this might just be a purchase for you.

Granted that the Morphée isn’t at a price that can justify a punt for most. But if you are thinking that this device might help you adopt better pre-bedtime behaviours I recommend it’s worth the investment.

With sleep being one of the three main pillars of health (fyi nutrition and exercise are the other two) it’s worth persevering with the device to help improve sleep health.

Our Verdict

We believe it is a useful device, particularly if you know that relaxing sounds and voices help to relax your body and mind. If you are not sure then we’d recommend testing this out before you make the £79 purchase. There are a number of relaxing tapes or even spotify will have playlists to trial. Just be careful not to look at your mobile devices while listening to the sessions.

One of the main aspects of the Morphée that we like is the dis-encouragement of mobile and digital devices prior to bedtime. If this is a habit you are particularly bad at then there are number of techniques that you can adopt to encourage good bedtime habits. For example, leaving mobile devices in other rooms and reading a book before sleeping are some alternatives.

But if you are liking the nice looking design of the Morphée and want a simple but effective device for relaxing and mindfulness before bed then it’s worth a purchase.

How Much Is the Morphée Sleeping Aid?

You can buy the Morphée sleeping aid for £79.95. We’ve yet to see any retailer offer it any cheaper and it is also available on Amazon.
